Meet The Founder

Mr. Vasant Shamji Shah

At 78 years of age, Mr. Vasant Shamji Shah remains the guiding force behind Parle Book Centre, which he founded in 1968 after completing his SSC and beginning his career at Matunga Medical. Driven by a passion for education and community service, he started the business with just three to four dedicated people and one school — Jamnabai Narsee.

The journey began modestly but grew through perseverance, integrity, and an unwavering belief in the power of education.

Today, what started as a small bookstore has flourished into a thriving team of over twenty committed members, serving countless schools, parents, and students across the city. Under Mr. Shah’s vision, Parle Book Centre has evolved from a traditional bookstore into a comprehensive educational partner — empowering learning, inspiring excellence, and upholding the values of trust and service that have defined it since its inception.

Mr. Vasant Shah’s story is one of dedication, humility, and lifelong commitment to education — a legacy that continues to guide Parle Book Centre as it grows, adapts, and serves new generations of learners.

Mr. Nilesh Vasant Shah

Nilesh Vasant Shah began his career with Parle Book Centre, an institution established in 1968 by his father, Vasant Shah. Building on the strong foundation of quality and trust in the book trade, he ventured into distribution with the very first assignment from Podar International School. The success of this initiative laid the groundwork for the creation of PBC Distributors in 2005, a dedicated division focused on book distribution.

With over two decades of expertise in sales, marketing, and international distribution networks, Nilesh has successfully grown PBC Distributors into a trusted partner for schools, institutions, and educational organizations. His vision has always been rooted in education as a service to the community, with a focus on enabling a better learning approach for students by providing access to quality books and resources.

He is the recipient of the Best Bookseller & Distributor Award twice, in Delhi and Mumbai, and has also been honored with the Innovation Distributor Award by the Book Federation of Delhi.

Guided by the values of his father and his own entrepreneurial spirit, Nilesh believes that knowledge-sharing is the cornerstone of community growth. Through PBC Distributors, he continues to drive forward the mission of supporting the education sector with innovation, reliability, and passion for learning.
